Country Crossover Songs

While it's hard to imagine country songs featuring pop stars, the idea is not new. Examples of outsiders scoring country hits date back as far as 1944, when Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters' version of "Pistol Packin' Mama" became the first song to reach No. Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart at No. 1. Outsiders have had country hits with artists from pop, rock, and jazz. In most cases, however a well-known country artist will partner up with an unknown.

Taylor Swift's song, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

Taylor Swift's 1989 album, We Are Never Ever Getting back Together, is one of her most popular songs. It was the first Billboard Hot 100 single to chart in the United States. The song is about a relationship that is a constant back and forth and a singer who is tired of the manipulative games her ex-boyfriend plays with her. She sings, "Never go back together." The song is about her split from Jake Gyllenhaal whom she broke up in 2011.

Kenny Rogers' "King of the Road"

Roger Miller was already a household name in 1965. His first single, "When Two Worlds Collide," reached No. Ten. Bill Anderson, Miller's friend, had written the song as they were driving to Texas. Roger's RCA career was at its peak when it reached #6. Miller's hit "Lock, Stock, and Teardrops", which he wrote while on the road, was another. Later, K.D. Lang sung it.

Miley Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart"

Miley Cyrus sang "Achy Breaky Heart", her 1992 smash hit, in a Carpool episode. It reached No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 5 on Hot Country Songs. The song charted also in ten other countries including Australia and New Zealand. Miley's team on The Voice is Billy Ray. Fans will enjoy the song, regardless of whether it's an anthem for romance or a country-inspired tune.

Glen Campbell's "Stand By Your Man"

One of the most iconic country songs ever is Glen Campbell’s title song, which he wrote for George Jones, his friend. In fact, the song has been so popular that many of its original writers have been accused of being feminists. Tammy Wynette was the only one in the country world who publicly denounced the song. However, Campbell was an exception to that rule.

Reba McEntire's cover of Johnny Cash's "Me & Bobby McGee"

"Me & Bobby McGee," a classic country/blues mix, tells the tale about hitchhikers living in the south. The original was made famous by Janis Joplin, whose incredibly raw version of the song landed the blues singer at No. 1, in 1971. Despite Joplin's tragic death, the song has survived and been covered by many artists, including Reba McEntire. Kris Kristofferson, who wrote the original song, also sang it in 1971.

FAQ

Is Hollywood bigger than Bollywood?

Film producers face the greatest challenge: how to get their movie noticed by the audience.

Problem is, there are many films competing for viewers' time and money. The problem is that you will not be seen if you aren't different from the rest.

But what makes a movie successful? What makes an actor or director famous? Or a director? Talent is not enough. It also requires luck. You might have all the best actors in the world, but if they're working on a bad script, nothing will come of it.

And when it comes to films, there are two main types: big-budget blockbusters and small independent productions. Production and distribution of blockbuster movies costs hundreds of millions. They are made by huge studios, who want to make sure their movies reach as many people possible. But these big-budget films tend to appeal mainly to older audiences.

Independent films are usually smaller productions that can be funded by investors or individuals. These films focus on niche markets or cater to particular tastes. These films are often less expensive to produce or market. But, they aren't necessarily cheaper to view. Many indie films are hard to find.

So, the question is, do we need both kinds of films? Are we going to need both big blockbuster movies or small independent films? Hollywood is larger than Bollywood, in my opinion. Hollywood produces twice as many movies per annum than India.

What is the difference in a distributor and a producer?

The movie is produced by a producer. The movie is distributed by a distributor. Producors have the option to sell movies directly to distributors or theaters. Distributors buy movies from producers. They then make them available for sale to theaters as well cable channels and streaming services.

Distributors have to negotiate with theater owners over where their movies should play. This means that certain movies might be more expensive at some theaters than others. If you want your movie to be seen by as many people as possible, you should choose a distributor with many theaters.

Why aren't more independent films distributed?

Most indie filmmakers assume that their films will get picked up by distributors.

They believe distributors will pick up their films because they know the public will love their work.

However, this is rarely the case. Distributors often profit from independent filmmakers.

They employ tactics like delaying a movie's release until after awards season has ended.

They might delay the release of low-budget films until after the summer blockbuster series has begun.

Distributors also try to keep films away from audiences until they've already spent hundreds of dollars on tickets, popcorn, or candy.

After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.

Can I form my own distribution business?

No. No.

You must follow certain rules, even though you are not distributing films of other people.

For instance, it is not possible to charge different prices for different theaters. You can't charge different fees for different customers.

Also, you can't offer your services to any other company.

Why did Hollywood become famous?

The simple answer was yes. It became famous because they were willing to take risks and do something different. They had the fortitude to make films that would remain in people's minds for years.

They were open to new ideas and had the courage of trying them out.

How To

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.

You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque will be attached to a base of concrete in front the designated star.

You may apply to be a star if you are nominated by a HWOF member or if you make significant contributions to television, radio, TV, theatre, music or other forms of "popular culture". A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they do, they send a letter to the applicant's home address explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce will then pay $25. This money is forwarded to the Department of Cultural Affairs of Los Angeles.

The department issues the Hollywood Chamber of commerce a check, payable to it. The check is sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays artists or organizations whose applications were accepted. The artist or organization then pays the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce half the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. If you were first nominated for a nomination in 1990, your owe $15,000. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove you from the list.

How old do you have to be in order to receive a star on HWOF?

One needs to be at least 18 years old when being nominated. To receive a star, one must be alive at that time. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why not just have stars on every street?

The HWOF was not created to be a historical landmark. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.

What happened to all the stars stolen? Around 1,200 stars were taken by the thieves. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
